Event Description

AFBA is heading to San Antonio for a twangy taste of Texas! Our day trip will take place on Saturday, May 19th.  Here's the schedule:

  • 9-9:30 a.m. - Meet at Progress Coffee (500 E. 4th, Austin, Texas) betwen 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.
  • 9:30 a.m. - Leave Austin from set meeting spot to caravan (let's ask for designated drivers)
  • 10:45/11 a.m. - Arrive in San Antonio, park vehicles.
  • 11a.m.-12:30p.m. - Walk the Pearl Farmer's Market and property for a snack/early lunch.
  • 12:30-12:45p.m. - Group walks to Culinary Institute of America (on Pearl property).
  • 1 p.m. - Culinary Institute of America (CIA) Tour begins (30 minutes-1 hour)
  • 1:45-2:30 p.m. - Snack, chill, chat time.
  • 3-5 p.m. - Tapas tasting with savory bites like Papas Bravas, Quesadillas, and their house specialty, plantain tostones at OCHO lounge at Hotel Havana*Ticket price covers the tasting spread, one drink, fees and gratuities at Hotel Havana
  • 5:15-7 p.m. - Drive back to Austin

This is a members only event. Each member in good standing is allowed to bring one guest, ticket price is per person.Tickets cost $40 per person and must be purchased by May 14th in advance.

What to Bring

  • Cash on hand - You never know what goodies you might want to acquire at the Farmers Market, and just like our markets most of the vendors there only take cash. We recommend you have a bit of cash on hand to just in case you see something that catches your eye. 
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, comfortable walking shoes, and dress for warm weather.
